The Healing Balm of Nature
a summer solstice poultice for nourishing the spirit and healing the soul
Dear Readers, I have been healing a hand injury that impacted my creative flow and spirit. Last month is missed sending you this newsletter. So I am sending you 2 posts this month.
Often during the significant calendar days, like solstices, you can find me re-creating myself through spontaneous ritual, adventure, and going deep in embodied research.
Also the art of relaxation is something I find to be radical in its importance and nourishing in its impact. Between pushes of output, resting to create is on the menu of ways to savour life and be more effective in work.

Words can be a balm. Poetry, Art, Nature are medicine.
In celebration of the season: Here is a summer solstice poultice for healing.
Expose your skin to the air, feel the warmth and delight. Breathe. Soak it in.
Apply a generous gathering of flowers, when you believe it’s enough, add some more.
Add water, whether it’s a lake, creek, ocean, sunshower or garden hose, feel the cool jewel of presence.
Be sure to mix in views of lush landscapes and expanses of color.
Embrace the summer storms. Find the inner calm. If you can, seek out misty rainbows.
Enjoy the flavours by savouring the season and taste the abundance in this moment.
Pause and expand into the feeling that you are alive and that all is well.
For one minute (at least) think of something you are grateful for and experience that gratitude.
To complete the circle. Offer something to the earth. You can dedicate a practice whether it’s yoga/dance, meditation, art, a journey, yourself/your awareness. Earth art is a beautiful way to do this with found materials. Be sure to respect the wilds and mindfully engage with gathering.
Wishing you a succulent summer season!
